Flagellant has one of the strongest bleeds and healing skills especially while he's at low health.

Unique Attributes

  • He will refuse to embark with another Flagellant in the party, as "the burden of suffering cannot be shared."
  • As his name suggests, he will only use the Penance Hall for Stress Relief. This will always heal 100 stress, or 90 if "The Town is Abuzz!" Town Event is active. He also cannot gain any negative Quirks that restrict him to other town activities for Stress Relief unless he interacts with certain curios that will give him them, i.e. Moonshine Barrel
  • The only Affliction Flagellant can receive is Rapturous, which gives +25% DMG, +3 SPD, and -20 DODGE. While Rapturous, Flagellant will often randomly attack enemies, other party members, or even himself, among other effects. He can never obtain a Virtue, and will always become Rapturous upon reaching 100 stress.
    • However, if he dies in the Color of MadnessFarmstead, he will be Refracted instead.
  • When Flagellant falls below 40% HP, he receives a buff for +20% DMG and +7% CRIT. He will also become able to use his emergency heal skills (Redeem and Exsanguinate) if they're enabled during the battle.
  • When Flagellant reaches Death's Door, every other member of the party is healed for 10% of their max HP, and Flagellant obtains a buff for +5 ACC, +20% DMG, +2 SPD, and +20% Stun, Bleed, Blight, and Debuff Resist. Additionally, he will also never gain Death's Door Recovery debuffs.
    • However, he will still get Recovery debuffs from Heart attacks.
  • In total, if Flagellant is both at Death's Door and Rapturous, he receives a grand total of: +65% DMG, +7 CRT, +5 SPD, +20% Stun/Bleed/Blight/Debuff resistance, and a -20 DODGE.
  • Should Flagellant die, he will stun (125% base) all enemies as his last act, and heal the remaining party members for 10 HP.

Combat Skills

The Flagellant belongs to an extremist faction within the church, and is generally regarded with a toxic mixture of fear, awe and disgust. The power he draws from martyrdom is as effective as it is unsettling - in one moment he is a fountain of healing renewal, and the next, a conduit of terrible wrath. His full potential is realized only on the brink of madness... or death.

"Exhaustion" debuffs (From Exsanguinate and Redeem) cannot be cleared by Medicinal Herbs.

Camping Skills

Eschewing the company of others, the Flagellant turns his back to the fire, denying himself the comforts of its warmth. Instead, he whips himself mercilessly - this is a man locked in perpetual battle with his own flesh and blood.
Survivalist

Unlike other heroes, Flagellant only has unique camping skills, giving him a total of 4. All of his camping skills target himself, either healing his health, his stress, or even raising his stress to bring him to his Rapturous state faster.

Equipment

The Flagellant relishes the scars and abrasions that cover his body - drawing incomprehensible resilience from the tearing of his own flesh. His flail, a particularly cruel and merciless weapon, drips with his enemies' blood... and his own.

Each Hero has Trinkets unique to them that only they can equip. Flagellant has seven; 2 uncommon, 2 Crimson Court and 1 common, rare and very rare. His normal trinkets are hoods and collars, and his Crimson Court trinkets are teeth and glass due to a beating he received from a drunken patron while begging for money.

Each hero has a unique trinket set consisting of two hero-exclusive trinkets, and a hero who equips both will gain an additional set bonus. Most heroes' set trinkets can only be found in the Crimson CourtCourtyard and have the rarity Crimson Court. Each set trinket is unique and limited to one copy in the inventory. The Shieldbreaker Shieldbreaker's set trinkets can only be obtained by completing her nightmare encounters and do not interact with Crimson Court The Crimson Court in any way.

Color of Madness The Color of Madness DLC introduces trinkets with a new rarity, Crystalline, which must be purchased by spending Crystal Shards at the Jeweler in the Nomad Wagon. There are both generic crystalline trinkets as well as one exclusive crystalline trinket for each hero.
